clarification of PayPal

Can you established sellers please comment regarding PayPal policies? It's my understanding that buyers may have up to 180 days to file some disputes and that they overwhelmingly prevail in a deadlock of stories between them and sellers unless delivery can be confirmed by some form of delivery confirmation in an item-not-received dispute. So when a seller indicates that the buyer assumes mailng risks without insurance, in reality it is the seller potentially bearing the risk. Also, that buyers usually prevail in claims item(s) received are significantly different than listed based on their word and refunds to them may include both original and return postage. Ebay community boards have more than a few postings of sellers being taken advantage of by some unscrupulous buyers. While some say it is just a cost of doing business, just how does a seller protect himself in a, say, a combined large purchase of stamps of maybe $500? from a claim of the second nature (wrong items)?

  • Send it Priority Mail which includes tracking and then insure for the value of the sale. It may cost a few extra dollars but you have proof of delivery and insurance to cover the cost of it being lost or damaged. I am not sure but you can set up a shipping fee for priority mail and insurance. Also if you print your shipping label through Paypal you get a nice discount.
