Not TakenSold item sold again

edited July 2018 in Bugs 1 LikesVote Down
I had a sale today. Yay! What's not so good is that one of the items had been sold back in February. Of course, I shipped it to the buyer back then, so, I can't do anything for my buyer today. This has happened a few times before. I understand that some items have multiples for sale. I do have a couple of listings that are genuine multiples, but, mostly, i sell single items. Do you guys have any idea yet why this keeps happening? I almost never play around with the quantity setting when i list, so I really don't think this is me. ID: 3383978 CLOSED

Just noticed that the ID number for these sales is consecutive. When I list, could there be two listings being created? Why would this be? Am I really going to have to look through nearly 1200 listings to see if I have any more doubles?
  • This isn't a bug, since they're two separate listings, and each listing sold once.

I've taken a look at these items, and they were both imported originally from bidStart - where they were also separate listings. However, since you're using Private IDs, I ran a report for you, on your current open listings, where you've ever had another listing previously with the same Private ID. There are 32 such listings. I would recommend checking to ensure that you have each of these. As long as all of your listings have Private IDs, there would be no other items which would possibly be duplicates:

  • Hi Mark, thank for your attention to this. I know you must have other things to do. I looked at each of those. Every one of them is in stock and I don't see where there are any duplicates. So, I'm still confused. My private ID numbers are, or at least should be, unique. I don't re-use them after a sale. I just keep adding more numbers. Don't get me wrong. If you're looking for somebody that can make a mistake, I'm your guy. 32 times in the period most of those numbers covers is quite a few errors on my part, though. I have noticed double listings being made every now and then. I try to watch for them pretty closely nowadays and stamp them out when I find them.
  • These listings do not necessarily currently have duplicates, but you previously had additional listings which also had the same private ids as these listings (including closed listings), which was why I suggested you check these. If you have all of these in stock, then you should be fine moving forward.
