I just pulled out a couple of imperial books I inherited and I ran upon this stamps. Looks to have an overprint J. Macy and Sons. I can't find any info on this online. All help greatly appreciated

It's not an overprint. It's a cancel on the revenue stamp, United States Scott #R15c.
