Scott 750 or 770

How can you tell the difference? Scott 750 measures 98x93 per description. Is Scott 770 different? My measures 92x100. It has gum. I also have Scott 769 or 751 with same measurements. Scott 751 measures 92x99 per description. It also has gum. Any help would be appreciated.

  • 750 and 751 were issued with gum. 769 and 770 were originally issued without gum, although (I believe) an original purchaser was given the option to have them gummed by the Post Office Department, if they sent them in. Otherwise, it's my understanding that the individual stamps 750 and 769 as well as 751 and 770 are identical.
  • The only way to tell the difference between the regular and special printings, because as Robert says, they are identical, is by the gutters and guidelines. That means you have to have at least a pair. It is explained in the Scott US Specialized. Just one of those philatelic qwerks.
  • Thanks. I missed the part about the gutters.
