British Guiana

Today's stamp from hell is a British Guiana 1c (in what appears to be a light green and ultramarine) that dips as a Watermark II. Trouble is, there ain't none listed as such in either the Scott Classic or Scott World.
There is a Scott 130, but that one is listed as being lilac & gray.
Then there's Scott 131A, which is listed as a single colour, gray green, which could fit one of the colours of this stamp. Was the 'ultra' in the tablet and top frame accidentally omitted from the listing?
I'm beginning to smell a colour changeling, unless one of you British Commonwealth folks can pin down a Scott number for me that I'm simply just not seeing.

  • George, that stamp looks really faded to me. I don't know if I would technically call it a changeling though but that is another discussion. Just looks like it has been sitting somewhere with a lot of light and faded.
  • Yeah, I was thinking light changeling (as opposed to a chemical changeling, like in sulphurization). I'm up to my neck in British Guiana stamps to list, so I think this one will be awarded to Mouse for his "collection" (he thinks I don't realize he eats them...typical Lab).
    Thanks Greg.
  • what watermark? if Crown CA then probably 131a IF Multiple Crown CA then Sc# 160/ 160b

in either case it had faded / changed colour which is quite common, I believe, in these issues. usually because stamp has been soaked off an envelope a worthy toy for the cat to play with :-)
