You can tell by the inside line of the right vertical column of the ornamental frame surrounding the sun. On the originals, the line ends about midway towards the scroll. On the forgeries, the line continues down and touches the scroll.
Everyone of these stamps being sold on HipStamp is a forgery. From what I saw, only two sellers correctly indicated the stamps were forgeries. One seller wasn't sure. The other sellers are selling these stamps as genuine, and some at very high prices.
Be very careful when you are thinking about buying stamps from early Iran. Almost all of the time, the stamps being offered are forgeries.
The only information I have on those are what Scott says regarding remainders being CTO, and that they "abound". The catalog values used stamps from that set as CTO.

Harry, your two stamps did not appear in my search. I don't know why...The ones that appeared in my search I also found synced with ebay. I don't know if you are synced with ebay or not.

Michael, No Links or syncs to ebay, I thought I knew the difference and then saw your post. My two are Good. Interesting that the little hoard these came from were originally from somebody who worked at the British Embassy in the Persian Gulf ( I think in Basrah).
