Thanks, Greg. Those are Scott 118-19, two of the three stamps issued to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Easter Rebellion in 1941. The stamps were issued in April and the text reads "In memory of the Uprising."
Although the designs are the same as those on the 1923 and the 1940 sets, the colors are different, so these were overprints on completely new stamps, not old stock. The original 2p stamps were dark green and the 3p were very dark blue.
It is also curious that there was a third stamp in October for the Anniversary, a 2 1/2p commemorative format item depicting an Irish soldier with rifle in front of the Dublin post office. Why this is so I do not know.
I am getting deeper and deeper into the fascinating quagmire of the Irish 1922 overprints. I see these mis-identified over and over in the stamps offered here on hipstamp, so if any of you need help with them I would be glad to assist.
No Greg. I bought them from a guy named Bentley who refers to himself and really everyone, as cats. I quote, "Hey baby. I got your stamps right here. These'll make you one cool cat on the forums."
I can't believe it! That tricky, lazy, and smarmy cat Bentley flopped down on this thing while I was getting ready to pack it up and the whole dang thing disappeared. I guess it actually works!!!!
My contribution for the weekend. Registered FDC from England to Mass. Pretty cool with letter contents for context. Does anyone know about the good Captain Robotti?
Captain Robotti served in the Royal Marines, Light Infantry. As a lieutenant in WWII, he was awarded the Military Cross which is given for "gallantry during active operations against the enemy."
Ya know, I was just going to present a bunch of blue Canadian engraved stamps and call it, yah, LaBatt"s Blues.....I'll try to get that done tomorrow. Never liked Carling, though....
Carling is a frat beer...cheap, nasty, and better by the keg but gets the job done. Visited Champaign IL one weekend for a football game years ago. Met up with my brothers in the frat house......don't remember a thing after that. Probably a good thing at that eh?

Picked up a few items here on Hip this morning. Can't wait to receive them. This one has thermographic ink that I want to see disappear.
Yeah, I need one of those too!
Great show, in fairness to Dennis, Chuck, John and James.
Here's some Canadians I've gotten recently. I admire the big pictorials more and more.
Scott 156, Quebec Bridge, from the 1928-29 set.
225, Niagra Falls from 1935.
245, Chateau de Ramezay, 1938.
