That may have been your intention when you created this thread, Kurt, but I think it does have a point now, despite what some killjoys say == it makes the point that we are a community of collectors that can have a little fun, and not have to use this Forum solely for grousing and whining about about little details that are a minor annoyance.
It is the most visited thread on this Forum, and that says a lot!
I completely agree, since there is SO little humour (or FUN) that I have ever been able to track down in stamp collecting! I DID actuallyGoogle "philatelic humour" once and came up with FOUR jokes. I haven`t tried any variations on those search words though. Maybe I should.
I don`t think that was one of the jokes I found - what`s the answer please? I do have a cartoon showing a character I think you would recognize (but I`m not sure where it is right now) approaching a Loans Manager and saying, "I was thinking of sending some letters ..."
Ted, here`s another one, but mine are not nearly as good as the Victorian one, the walrus or the guy with a four-pointed beard attached to two more moustache points! (And I think someone has already submitted this guy - but maybe he was having a better "hair day" when my stamp was drawn.)
Ted, I Googled using the American spelling this time (Philatelic Humor) and I found a few more. One had to do with food stamps and some of the others weren`t very funny. I DID rather enjoy this one though:
A blonde goes to the post office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards. She says to the clerk, "May I have 50 Christmas stamps?"
The clerk says, "What denomination?"
The blonde says, "God help us, Has it come to this? Give me 6 Catholic, 12 Presbyterian, 10 Lutheran and 22 Baptists."

Sure. And, unlike the Penny Black giveaway, you can enter as many times as you wish in one day, no purchase necessary.

WOW. That many? I only know one off the top of my head: What's the difference between a donkey and a stamp?
I would spin this off into its own thread, but it would just die after 3 more posts. LOL
