Gibraltar is also NOT in the Middle east (try Europe!) Gaza is NOT a country and If it issued stamps (does it?) it should be listed under Palestinian Authority.

Mark...not sure where to look. When I survey the store of a seller, it still does not feature information about how many items are in each category. Do you mean you have just implemented not showing the categories that are empty? But not the ite…

Just completed my first purchases at HipStamp. I used the Catalog sort, the Chronological Category sort and the Range sorts. I even used Years to explore non Scott listings. Worked really well. Some minor issues (not the fault of the software)…

Talking about icons, Why not make them all a bit bigger. Your primary client base has eyesight that is not getting any better. Hard to see. Same about CONTRAST. This grey may be nice to you, but what about a shade that is a bit more visible! Co…

Rod: Hopefully the other catalogs will also be offered in this format. In the interim, I always search on year as well, which often takes care of the multitude of catalogs out there. rrr

That would be fantastic! Confirmation from Mark? rrr...

Hi Mark: Here is the example of my search and what I see. Hope it will help fine tune the software. I realize how complex it is if you are trying to accomodate old listings. I searched on Catalog/Number for Portugal 89-90: Zero hit I searched o…

Ok I now see and have used the CATALOG specific search. Curious, it seems to miss items that appear (with a lot of unwanted material) in the general search. Is this because sellers have not yet updated their info to include the catalog and number …

That is good news and should be of great help. But I am still unable to do a simple search just on country and catalog number. Where am I going wrong? It still throws a lot of unwanted "garbage" back at me..whether a single number or a range. I a…

The user is however clueless of the variations, so a link or reminder would be appreciated.

Mark: great to hear that. I think the confusion to buyers like me is coming from the distinct searches, for keywords, and for year of for cat numbers. It does not differentiate them, so one assumes they are the same. The instinctive buyer's sear…

Curious if range searches work here. I did a test of Belgium 1-50. All the #1 were there (as were the 1 F coins). But nothing else. To make sure I tested Belgium 10 Yes, plenty of stamps Belgium 10 present. Is the syntax for range searches di…

This is a very worthwhile discussion. This is the key in my mind to having a system that really works for stamp collectors worldwide. Thanks Mark for looking into it with such an open mind.

It may be a mistake to set up the cat type and number without the space between the two. I think the catalog type and catalog number are two distinct separate fields. Then sorting on "SG (space) Number" will act as an AND function, ie SG and that …

Yes Michael..I usually set it at 96. But it is one more click..and I do miss the 200 items you could set it on BS..although there too the default was set at 50...so more clicks. Not sure why the number is set so low? software and computer limitat…

Curious why coins are part of the sort results? Hipstampsandcoins? It sure adds confusion to the lower number sorts.

A category number is a category number. If you sort by SC or SG or YT makes no difference, the stamps will be picked and appear in sorted fashion. If you add SC, SG or YT to the search field you will weed out the other catalogs. There is not even…

Thanks Michael. I think the problem is due to the fact that old listings did not have them, so these sorts are not effective yet. Hopefully sellers will list in the future taking advantage of it, or even (I can dream on?) relist older material wit…

Thanks Mark. Yes I am aware of the problem of backward compatibility, and you do have to get the older material to import and post seamlessly here first. But I would really like dedicated sort field that singles out year, and that singles out …

I still buy on Bidstart and elsewhere, but I have yet to buy on Hipstamp. Alas, I find the same flaw in the search capability here as in Bidstart (and elsewhere). There is no real ability to sort on cat number (or year) without getting a lot of j…
