I will politely and respectfully disagree with the belief that our entire buying demographic is at an age where "change is bad". We have all read the articles that scream about the imminent death of our hobby because all the collectors are dying. …

To be clear, the large expense that the postal service was forced to pre-fund was for future retiree health benefits, not for pension costs.

John My approach likely falls into the "ridiculously time consuming" category, but I've automated it in the inventory management software I've built within Microsoft Access. If I buy a collection at auction for $100 + $15 (hammer price plus buyer'…

@Brett Moulton The only stats I have relating to the number of stores are overall numbers. Even if I knew which ones left, I wouldn't know the reason for their departure.

To answer the OP's question, as of 12-2020, there were a total of 1,178 stores shown in HipStamp's store listing. At the end of June, there were 1,163 (a decrease of 15). As of the end of 2021, there were 1,191 (an increase of 28 from June, and inc…

Back to the OP ... I like the decision, but I'm not going to disagree with those who don't. To me, the value isn't in the number specifically, but in the size of the number (to a point). If I see a buyer with single-digit feedback, I'm going to ta…

@Joe Picard - I appreciate the extra information. Regarding Bob's analysis, the difference is that you have a store subscription, which lowers the final fee percentage from 12.55% to 8.7% (both still have the $0.30 fixed cost per transaction). T…

@Wayne Camolli - I agree with all that you've said about the benefits of HipStamp vs other sites. I'm trying to avoid that conversation, though, and just focus on the "fees" aspect. I agree that the volatility in PayPal fees comes from the fact t…

@Joe Picard - I appreciate you sharing that information. Without knowing what your total monthly sales are or what type of store you have, I'm not able to take an educated guess at what the fixed store cost translates to as a percentage of your sal…

I second Carol's suggestion. I've been using that software for years, and can't imagine trying to do that manually. Regarding the scanner, I think there are a number of good, reasonably-priced options out there. If you are happy with the quality …

@Wayne Buza - Go to the "My Account" tab across the top, and then choose "Account Settings" on the right side. Once you've done that, you should see a text box labeled "Sales Invoices Custom Content". Whatever you type in there will appear on an …

I welcome comments from buyers like Ralph, especially in areas where I don't have any real expertise, and am (typically) just selling something I acquired as part of a larger lot. Unless I am confident that I am right in my initial assessment, I wi…

I'll second the support for HipSportsCards. I've been sitting on a pile of graded cards for quite a while, waiting for a solution that isn't that other place.

I just checked mine (I have a Basic subscription as well), and mine is laid out the same as Dave's. I have the address and payment settings below the Store Logo section. I agree ... that seems a bit weird on first glance.

My approach is similar to Michael Generali's suggestion. I just filled an order this morning for $0.55, with $1.00 s/h. While to some that s/h cost may seem excessive (especially given the ability to purchase discount postage), it covers (1) shipp…

(edited to further apologize for having this appear under the "Bugs" category ... if the Moderators want to move this to a more-appropriate place, that would be appreciated. RW) I apologize for resurrecting this thread from so long ago, but I'm ge…

Apologies for the apparent divergence from the primary request, but I consider this to be complementary to what George asked for, so I don't think I'm being that much of a jerk. If others see it otherwise, I do apologize. As a seller, I'd like som…

Mark I appreciate the detailed answer, along with the example. It gives me what I was looking for. Rob

Andrew Thanks for the confirmation. I appreciate the timely response. Rob

I've answered my own question. It appears that they do indeed have digital options (assuming I trust the way that Google translates their website, of course). For those of you who may be interested, their website is www.yvert.com.

Richard Thanks for the detailed (and timely) response. Switching gears ... does anyone know if the Y&T catalogues are available in digital format? Possibly on a subscription basis? A quick google search didn't tell me much of anything. Rob

When did this get added? I've been wanting this for a long time, but didn't know it was available. Also, thanks to @Michael Generali for pointing out where he found it.

Franz I know the feeling. While I don't have nearly the level of sales that you do, I received my first (and only) negative a while back for something that truly was my fault, but that I made "right" with the buyer. I commented then that I wished…

@Rod Tilyard - thanks for posting those images. I knew about the feedback filters, but hadn't seen the "View My Store" button at the bottom of the page. That'll save me some time.

Robert - there is a setting you can change that adjusts the space around each stamp. Under Tools | Settings | Bounding Boxes, you can adjust the value shown in "Bounding Box Padding" up or down to use more or less space around each image.

To follow up on Ted's comments, I use Jason's software extensively. There is a way to "conjoin" stamp images automatically, within a few parameters. For example, if you have a sheet with five rows of stamps that are all part of the same set, the s…

Mark ... thanks for the quick reply. Would you consider adding this to the request list? I'd like to be able to use promotion codes in this manner, but if the buyer still has to cover the shipping costs, it sort of defeats the purpose. Thanks Rob

Mark - thanks for adding this functionality. I agree with the earlier comments about the uncertainty, and this solves that issue. Rob

Agreed. When I set vacation mode, it is typically for less than a week, but I'm coming up on a longer trip, and I don't want people to become discouraged with non-receipt of something they purchase early in my travels.
