Columbia House Philadelphia boxed hotel marking on the back of an 1849 stampless cover from Philadelphia. Black auxiliary with red wax seal; some backflap damage from opening; Blue CDS and "free", addressed to the Secretary of the Treasury (William Meredith) with extensive docketing. The hotel marking indicats that the cover was mailed as a convenience by the hotel for a guest. Envelope only, no content. ASCC $60 from 30 years ago.Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
