Item Description

This is a very nice set of 4 postage stamps issued by the India Post in 1946 to help celebrate the end of WWII and the allied victory. Each features the same design only in a different color and face value. Design features King George VI, a sword piercing a globe, and the word "VICTORY" encapsulates the moment. The four include 1 1/2 Annas in a purple shade, 3 1/2 Annas blue shade, 12 Annas in a red shade and a 9 Pies green shade. These commemorative issues are all 14 perf. and 24.5 X 29 mm in size.They were gummed stamps photogravure printed on ordinary paper. These look to be near mint condition, but due to one having very, very light hinge marking I listed them as Unused LH with nice OG. This has became one of the more popular collector stamps due to its representation of a crucial history event that left no country untouched in some way and also marker in India's postal history as these stamps would be the last ones issued while under British control. This would be a great bargain for any collector skill level or collection theme.
