Item Description
Belgium, Scott #758 (OBP/OCB# 1744)(Michel $1796y)(Yvert&Tellier #1719)(Stanley Gibbons #2214b), used (o), 1974, King Baudouin definitive of Type Elstrőm after the designer; 6.50 francs, King Baudouin (1930-1993), was the son of Leopold III and Queen Astrid, Baudouin shared his father’s capture and internment by the Germans during World War II; after the war, and after Leopold stepped down as King, Baudouin became the fifth king of the Belgians in 1951; during his long reign Baudouin served effectively as a unifying force in Belgium, a country deeply divided deeply divided into Flemish and French speaking factions, and he was respected for the impartiality with which he treated the two groups; in 1960, Baudouin married Spanish noblewoman, Doña Fabiola de Mora y Aragón; because the royal couple were childless, Baudouin was succeeded by his brother, Prince Albert in 1993; engraved, perforated: 11½, phosphorus coated (glows dull white under UV light), violet black, (stamp should not be confused with a similar stamp printed on polyvalent paper, not noted in Scott, but listed in OBP/COB as #1744P5 and the paper has a shiny surface and glows reddish under UV light); Scott 2025 catalog value: 25¢. Off-centered (fine), light, half circular, black inked, single rim showing, socked-on-the-nose border cancellation at the lower right and well clear of the man image, small 2mm brown stain at upper border middle, sound back, good perforations; image clear cancel warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch' offering. The stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.70 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.78 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
