This is the 1947 first edition softcover book looking at the 1847 5-cent Franklin and 10-cent Washington essays and proofs in detail, which is now at auction. Long out of print... at least as a book, this deeper look into those first national postage stamp essays and proofs will certainly educate. Clarence W. Brazer managed to keep his work short and straight-forward for easy use and application within the philatelic hobby. Brazer also includes some black and white image to give readers a visual journey as well. This is without doubt a must-have for the classic American philatelist -- interesting research and reference.
