Item Description
This is a neat, clean piece French Colonial Cameroun (Africa) postal history from the days of World War II. The cover bears a horizontal pair of 1.25RF issues featuring African elephants. The issues are tied nicely to the cover with a faint May 19, 1941 Meiganga, Cameroun, postmark as well as the censor stamps and seal helping the cover along its journey to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The cover is a bit edgy along the right side, where it was likely opened enthusiastically presumably by Miss T. Erickson looking for news from a friend or relative in the African nation. The cover value listed is only based on the single good stamp. The damaged issue was not a consideration.
Please review the images of this philatelic African-South Dakota, USA, cover. Please study the images to determine condition as well as clarity, color, condition, cancel, and centering.
Scott Catalogue Number: #243 (not a single franking) on Cover, $62.50
Color: Carmine Rose
Usage/Issue Date: Probably 1941/1939 (respectively).
