Item Description

This is the 1851 imperforate 12-cent Washington issue which is for sale. Well centered for the issue with almost perfectly balanced margins, especially given the tight sheet arrangement of these early imperforate issues. For the margins, except the very most upper right which is just in, the stamp has the lion's share of the spacing between stamps. This stamp bares a smudged partial black CDS cancellation strike which tends to blend into the stamp sharing that same color. An exceptionally nice stamp -- please study the images for clarity, color, cancellation, and centering.
