Item Description

This is a choice postally used, mauscript cancelled 1855 California postal history cover featuring a horizontal imperforate pair of 3c Washington stamps to pay the rate between Brownsville, Yuba County, to Auburn, Placer County, California. At the time, California had barely been granted statehood into the Union. The stamps show strong detail as well as evidence of being among the latter press run stamps. The stamps have no faults at all, while the cover's reverse is somewhat tattered. Please study the images for clarity, color, condition, cancel, receiving mark, and centering.
