Published in 1950 by August Dietz, this is a great philatelic reference for Confederate States of America (Civil War) collectors. The out of print 48-page book includes the background on the South's sudden need and process to establish a postal system, before tackling the history of the first Confederate issue and subsequently the first 2-cent and 10-cent issues. The whole history, including the push for foreign printing of CSA stamps, is briefly presented to philatelists. At the heart of the book are two full color pages showing off the Rebels stamps. Dietz goes ahead to discuss the various production techniques employed by the South and even discusses the stamp the never was.
