Published in 1989, this prized three-volume reprint edition reference is almost always in high demand of stamp collectors. (The original 1947 two-volume set is listed within the store but has homemade replacement dust jackets.) The "The 19th Century Postage Stamps of the United States" was the work of renowned philatelist and hobby expert Lester G. Brookman. This work, which was subsequently reprinted as three volumes, is for the advanced philatelist as well as any collector looking to become more attuned to the finer aspects of stamp collecting.
The volumes offer expert guidance and information from Brookman as well as beautiful black and white images and graphics of specific issues. The hard-bound book set affords collectors the opportunity to compare and research stamps with a book in-hand, it is likely a must-have for collectors alike as a philatelic reference. This particular set appears new or at the very least very rarely opened.
The credit page within the first few pages reads: The Philips edition is a reproduction of the original edition published under the same title in three volumes in 1966 and 1967.
Title: The 19th Century Postage Stamps of the United States, Vols. I, II, & III
Size: 882-page set of books (roughly 8-x-10-inches)
Publisher: David G. Phips Publishing Company, North Miami, Florida
Publication Date: 1989
Binding: Hard Cover
Book Condition: Reference Copy -- New or as new.
Many philatelic reference books are collectible in their own right since many renowned hobby experts are now out of print. Most are valued for their collectability based on condition, rarity, and to some extent their use as a reference. Condition is the key and is highly subjective, so study the images, read the content, ask questions, and work with a reliable collector-dealer to get what you want.
Please note, payment is expected within three (3) days; thank you. This will ship media mail, unless the buyer wishes to pay for a faster postal service.
Every effort is made to generate a stellar experience for buyers and reciprocal feedback is always appreciated. Bookmark the store and check back often for new opportunities.
