Item Description
Great Britain, Scott #MH423 (Deegam 100.26.5), 2020 used (o) Machin, 10 pence, Walsall gravure, printed: May 14th, 2020, self-adhesive non-water soluble gum, iridescent "Royal Mail" wavy overprint, no embedded source code, embedded 2020 year code as "M20L" in the top left of the stamp, security slit type 2a (wide break at top and bottom of the ovals), simulated 14¾x14 perforations with syncopated elliptical double perforation space quarter way from the bottom on left and right sides, light tan, very slightly off-centered, crisp, quarter circular, black-inked, woven single band rim, socked-on-the-nose corner cancellation at the lower right corner of the stamp with partial mailing details and well into the main image {GREAT TARPOTS B(ENFLEET ESSEX, A, 15 JU(X)}(mailed from: Post Office A in the Great Tarpots area of Benfleet, Essex on June or July 15th, XXXX},the reference to Great Tarpots dates back to the time when tar was applied to hilly dirt road surfaces during the winter to make the passable; the tar was boiled in huge pots and spread on the road to repel water and provide traction; such an operation existed at Benfleet in Essex in southeast England and the hamlet where the huge tar pot stood took the name "Great Tarpots,”as did the hamlet post office, post office A, good perforations, stamp was issued on pressure-sensitive non-water soluble adhesive counter panes, the stamp was removed from the mailing envelope using a Bestine solvent and placed on a rectangular piece of black card stock for an attractive and uniform album appearance; centering, embedded year code and mailing details cancel warrants a selling price premium. this is not a 'bait-and-switch' offer, the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.40 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.60 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
