He was also a United States Postal Service Rural Free Carrier and his serviced Thornton West Virginia whichi is West of Grafton/West Virginia. It is in Taylor DountruMr Smith has two first cachets, Smith #1 which is the UX86 Drake postcard and Land's End #1 the 1874 .15 Dirksen.
His cachets were numbered and lettered. The number was for the cachet and the letter was for different stamps and cancellation.
