Item Description

Having used contemporary French postage with specific numeric cancels for Offices in Turkey, the French in mid-1884 began overprinting postage stamps specifically for those foreign French Post Offices. This 50 centimes pair is among the first to be overprinted and revalued.

Condition: Sound left stamp, but there is a diagonal flattened crease in the lower area of the right stamp.
