Item Description
POSTAL CARDS: NINE; including important varieties, (Scott #UX5 // UX27), most are UX27 including an incredible card with foreign matter on the plate (shown in the first and second scans), THE FOREIGN MATTER APPEARS TO BE AN OBLITERATION OF THE DESIGN which is truly remarkable, this rare card is Mint with a clean reverse, second card with foreign matter on the plate (not to be confused with plate cracks) is the one shown in the bottom of the second scan, good-sized flaw inside the ring on Jefferson's collar, Unused card w/ printing on reverse (WH Davis advertising agent), clean face with some inclusions on face, then a card with the well-known "Unruly hair in the queue" variety which is a green line at the back of Jefferson's hair, this card is filled out in ink but never sent, reverse blank (the variety is scanned up close in the second scan), then a TRULY remarkable COATED CARD, used in 1927 by Vahan Mozian (NYC Jun 1 1927 machine slogan cnl), most likely at his 505 Fifth Avenue address, S37A card with the reverse that is coated with a heavy substance I have never seen before, then handstamped for Mozian's upcoming Jun 25 auction, if you collect coated cards this is the one for you! The lot powers on with a UX27 (better S37B type) USED TO ARGENTINA, foreign usages of this card are scarce, 1925, lightly toned, 1c fourth Bureau adhesive makes up the rate, then two McKinley cards UX24 is a fascinating pre-printed card with an entire spiel in Red at L in a self-defined correspondence space, the face is in the first scan (reverse which is in Black is at the bottom of the third scan), Unused, also a Mint UX22, clean face (State Hospital for the Insane printing on reverse), some light toning, also a UX5, used and soiled, last but not least is a #UX27 used in York Pa (Dover return addr), this card is shown at the top of the fourth scan, cancel off the card, circa 1940s? The reverse is a charming George Leader Willow Brook Chicks advert, egg profits, etc, Southern York county Pennsylvania rural business, nine cards in all of which five are varieties, these came from a collector that once exhibited postal card varieties, some faults due to wear or storage, still an amazing lot, Fine-EF+.Retail $120
I combine shipping. Just ask.
