The Claude C. Ries Chapter - an enthusiastic group of Southern California FDC collectors - gathers every summer for a bountiful BBQ at the home of a club member. Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Ice Cream and Watermelon are the staples!In 2025 we gathered once again at the Moreno Valley home of Gladys Jones, whose home is virtually a Winnie the Pooh museum. Temperatures hit 99˚, but we barely noticed, as we chowed down on the bounty of summertime goodies.
This year, Gladys grilled up a mountain of burgers for her new friends in the recently released booklet of BABY WILD ANIMALS! We commemorated the 'wild' party with a cover like this one with Gladys serving all of the 10 BABY ANIMALS in the booklet. Each cover was franked with 3 of the BABY ANIMAL stamps anchored by a facsimile pictorial cancel - this particular cover features the BABY BEAR, BABY SKUNK, and BABY BOBCAT.
It was a great party . . . and nobody melted!
