Item Description
United States, Scott #5438, used(o) coil stamp, 2020, Annual Flower Series, Wild Orchids Native of the United States Issue; stamp shows a Marsh Lady's Trusses Orchid (Spiranthes Odorata); wild orchids can be found almost worldwide, but certain species require very specific micro-climates; the orchid on this stamp is one such flower, as it prefers marshes, bogs, swamps and other wet areas in the eastern United States from New Jersey and Tennessee south to Florida and Texas; its flowers are borne in dense vertical columns on sturdy green spikes, in a slightly twisted pattern; they appear in late summer and autumn and are white, hooded and very fragrant; issued as a forever stamp at an individual counter value of (55¢) for first class mail, serpentine die cut simulated perforations at scale: 10¾ vertical, imperforated at the top and bottom, perforated at the sides, issued in coils of 3,000 or 10,000 stamps with the ten different stamps of the issue alternating along in the coil, offset lithography printed by the Banknote Corporation of America (BCA), no watermark, issue with non-water soluble adhesive gum, no phosphorus, Scott 2025 Catalog Value: 40¢, date considered nicely centered (superb) which is good for the issue as most coil stamps are considerably off-centered, horizontal, black-inked, wavy line cancellation over the front of the stamp, good perforations, centering and mounting warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.65 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.73 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
