The "Wiseman" guide to US Stamp Identification

Shawn, I do not see in any of these posting that someone is "throwing rocks at you". Everyone was just letting you know that the listing was incorrect. Most people on this forum are just trying to help.

Steve, Another way to tell: Scott #551 would have a Plate Block of 6 and Scott #653 would have a Plate Block of 4. Larry
-
Steve, Plate #20371 was only used for #653 not #551. Larry

Hi Scott, A Scott #579 is perf 11X10 (11 at top and bottom, 10 on the sides). That is what this stamp shown is. Regards, Larry
-
Thanks.

Hi Greg, Did you say this is new? There has been a "Collectors Corner" since 2007 (division of Collectors Universe). Stamps, coins, cards, etc. are sold on this site. Is this the same "Collectors Corner"? Regards, Larry
-
Bill, That sounds correct. Larry

John and Rene, I think I can top that. In 1987 my wife and I were living in Illinois and decided to go to the mall in Rockford (I am a Missouri country boy, so I am lost in any town with a population over 50). When we were finished, I went to get my…

Hi Mark, I use the Sync system, but it does have an issue. If a stamp sells on Ebay the Sync system removes it from the Hipstamp site - but if the stamp sells on Hipstamp I have too manually remove it from the Ebay site. Regards, Larry

Alvin, The seller could be correct. I disabled my store (about 2-3 yrs. ago) for approx. 6 months. About 3 months after my store was disabled I had a stamp sell. I contacted HipStamp about this issue and was told that they would review the situation…

Stephanie, If you decide to open a store to sell these, please let us know. I might be interested in some of the United States stamps. Regards, Larry
-
Mark, Is there a way that I could enter stamps (in this same manner discussed above) into the Thursday no reserve auction? Regards, Larry

"are required to" unless arrangements have been made with the seller.
-
Robert and Csaba, I'm having the same issue.

Ted, Another vote for you just completed.

Also the design on the J73 will measure 19 x 22 mm. The J83 will measure 19 X 22.5 mm because it is from a rotary press.
-
Hi Philip, If it is perforated 11 X 11 then it is a Scott # J73. If it is perforated 11 X 10.5 it is a Scott # J83.
-
Hey Dan, Your missing 1 zero.
-
Scott #576 is Flat Plate and measures 19.25mm X 22.25 mm. Scott #631 is Rotary Press and measures 19.25mm X 22.5 mm. Also the majority of the Scott #631 have gum breaker ridges easily seen from the back (ridges across the stamp). If yours is a mint …

Hi Mark, Thanks - I believe it is a Scott #24 with the perfs trimmed-off and reperfed. But why would someone reperf 12 instead of 15?
-
Scott catalogue lists a Scott #7 with an unofficial perf 12.5, but this is perf 12. Do you think someone reperfed all 4 sides? Thanks in advance for all of your help. Larry

Ted, very well stated.
