  • margins are almost too perfect. Be aware that because these versions were issued for Official Use rather than general use ( VR), I understand that not many survived and that there were excellent forgeries produced. I would sent it for expertization because no one just looking here at images can know for sure, IMHO.
  • According to Stanley Gibbons catalogue, the VR penny black "was prepared for official use, but was never issued for postal purposes. Obliterated specimens are those which were used for experimental trials of obliterating inks, or those that passed through the post by oversight.". Most printed sheets of the stamps were destroyed, so any out there are very rare. This is not one of those used for ink trials. As Rene says above, it really needs an expert eye - there are many forgeries around. If it is genuine, well done!
