WW Catalog?

So the scott catalog is it just for US stamps or is there a WW Catalog also If there is I need both, unless there is a catalog for each country then I may wanna rethink my WW collection unless they got it combined and organized by country, year, condition, type, etc.

Until I get these catalogs to verify gonna search each 1 individually the old way so far just looking on Hipstamp sales or Google search has done what I need!

  • Not quite sure what you mean by "the old way". Catalogs are the old way. Online sales and listings and Google searches can be quite to extremely unreliable unless you know what the real CV and ID is.

Scott is a worldwide catalog. Online catalogs available at https://www.scottonline.com/

Paperback set of catalogs available at https://www.amosadvantage.com/Store/Category/Stamps/Scott-Catalogs

You can also find sets a couple years old from many sources including some HipStamp stores.
  • Greg is very correct . Most of the items I search out are VERY volatile in terms of pricing . I’ve noticed that items under 5$ shift little . Mid priced ( 100s$) move around aggressively and you are well served to examine recent auctions and sales . Moderate ( 1000$) move around less aggressively but the high priced items (10,000$) seem to move up consistently. For me , it is part of the fun . Sometimes , I encounter a tired dealer who just lets things go . The older catalogues work well for me . But ultimately, an items value is really only what a buyer pays for it.
  • thanks guys your a big help I'll use that online catalog tonight eventually gonna get to paperback!
  • You may also be able to check them out from your local library. If they have it, the most recent edition is usually in the reference section and doesn't circulate, but often the volumes of the older editions are available to check out. (Sometimes it's only the large or main branches of a local library system that have it.)
  • Phil is very, and, absolutely correct. I used to go the library as a kid with a stack of stamps to work on. Nice quiet place to do your thing too. In fact, my latest full set of Scott catalogs (2015) came from a library book sale at a deep discount to new. Still have them as a reference but I have found the digital 2022 volumes to be very useful although takes a bit of getting used to.
  • I have several complete sets of older Scott catalogs. They are the 2002, 2006 and 2008 editions. All are complete, with the 2008 edition also having the Scott Classic Catalogue (1840-1940) with its more extensive listings for that period. I am willing to sell any for the cost to send them (a couple Postal Service medium-sized Priority Mail boxes) plus the PayPal and HipStamp fees (around $35 total). If interested reply below and I will get them listed for sale here on HipStamp.

I am always scanning the HipStamp forums for the opportunity to send these off to someone who needs them for a reference.
  • There you go Brett. As easy as it can be. Thanks Richard!
