Sellers can help, until Hipstamp improves. Add your shipping terms in the description.

This is a call to sellers. Some sellers already do this, and you can easily see it if you look around!
Sellers can help themselves now, at least until the Hipstamp format for displaying their items improves....(and this will depend on Mark's priority list, not my wants, as a lonely buyer)! Things are slowly improving, but some basic and aggravating flaws remain. So, please, ADD YOUR ABBREVIATED SHIPPING TERMS to your description summary, FOR EACH ITEM.

I am tired of all the extra clicks it take to see all the information one NEEDS, or to navigate the current system EFFICIENTLY, so, let us work around it, with your help...it is not that difficult!

In your listings, you can add a substantial description within the allowed space (several lines long I have seen).
Why not summarize also your shipping fees right there for all to see. (write a one line boiler plate and add it to all your listings, as you go along. I don't expect you to change prior listings, which would be nice but unrealistic, but do it to the new ones. Buyers like me often sort on New Items listed, and it will put a smile on our face!

Right now it takes several extra clicks to find it. It should have been right there to see, (at least in abbreviated form).
It will also make easier in the shopping cart when one is ready to proceed without having to query for it (several extra clicks).

Example ( based on some sellers I have seen!)
:
Item #... summary description... asking price...$$$$
Mint Never Hinged. Scott 2015 # ???, cat value $9.00.
Shipping to U.S. $1.25, Elsewhere $1.75. $0.00 per added item

This last line is what I am looking for.

It will go a long way to encourage buyers like me to save your item in my shopping cart and to purchase it when the total I have accumulated is high enough to act. This applies especially if I don't know you, but also as a general rule, because I will think of closing my purchase when the ratio of my shipping costs to purchase total is under 10%.
So I do need this information to proceed. And the longer I have to wait to get there, the more likely I will buy the same item from someone else. (hint, hint)
I am getting tired of searching for this information, and FYI I do not like nor do business with sellers who lower their listing prices and up their shipping... or if they add a significant additional item premium. I think it is dishonest for strict price comparison purposes, even if justifiable in your business model. I, like many, find it unsavory.

Thanks for considering this suggestion.

  • Ralph,

Biggest problem with that is when the postage goes up and those same listings have to be edited. If one does not know how to quickly edit the description it becomes very time consuming to edit them one by one. (Been there, done that) And there is no reason for a seller to have to change the description when that information is all ready there.
  • I think that the problem arose in developing the grid view for use by those using mobile devices - there just isn't much space for added information. In the listing view there is an abundance of space - in fact it appears the all of the information now hidden behind drop downs or whatever you want to call them would fit right on the listing so you wouldn't have to spend all that time clicking, clicking and more clicking..

I don't know what the answer is. I know that my two banks approached becoming friendly towards mobile users in totally different directions. One bank came up with a solution where both the computer user and the mobile user have nice clear understandable statements. The other bank made their statement almost impossible to use for computer users. It is a small town bank and most of their customers are older folks who use computers. They are starting to re4think but I won't hold my breath. I might just move all my accounts to the friendly bank (sma;; credit union).

I bet if Mark could develop a "classic view" for use by those of us using computers many of us would pay extra for it. I know for me it would be worth $5 a month extra to have the site user friendly for computers rather than for mobile devices ( similar to Bidstart where all the information was visible - not hidden). It would be interesting to know how many people actually use those tiny screens to spend serious money on stamps....

We need the flexibility of eBay listings. Gallery or list view. List view is fully customisable, you can choose what you want to see. Mobile users will prefer gallery view, PC users will love the listing view. Here the list view is terribly bare with no customising option.
  • Morning, wow,
Please note..I only charge one FEE 0.50 shipping and I will combine. I tried to ship over seas, but the forms, the addressses way to many headaches.
I agree with the poster...free shipping and somehow the price went up exactly .50 cents the next time item listed. Sellers do need to do their part to make this site great...but they need to make a few pennies along the way.
  • Carol,

This is from one that uses a PC only. I find the tab system to be more efficient then having to scroll through the listings.
It took a little while to get used to it but I find it's a better system then having to scroll up and down all the time. (It's a trade off)

  • I also like the TAB system.

I might agree but the tab system misses a lot of stamps that you are looking for if the seller does not dot the "i's": and cross the ":t's". The same as looking by year date - search for stamps issued in "1937" and you will probably end up with less than half of the stamps that would interest you either because the seller did not enter the date, the date did not transfer, or the autofill filled in the incorrect date (it happens very often - especially with BOB or stamps with a letter suffix).

I am glad that some people find the TAB system faster and easier. I feel sad that using the TAB system people are in some cases missing half of what they are looking for.

I could scan down through a 200 stamp search page on Bidstart much faster than I can a 48 stamp grid page - maybe it's just age but the listing page eye movement is linear and the grid page involves eye movement going back and forth. I could go through thousands of listings at a sitting (whole countries) very rapidly without tiring, now after 15 or 20 pages I have to stop because I am tired.
  • Sometimes I use auto scroll. Click the scroll wheel, move your cursor below the lit box to adjust your speed. Sit back and watch. Click left mouse key or wheel to stop.
  • Hi Guys In my store the shipping Table does not work.
The last box, Choose a location will not accept anything I have tried all kinds of details, all I get is "No results Match"
    Can anyone help?

I agree with Ralph, the postage calculator is cumbersome and time consuming. Therefore, I've added a brief summary of my postage charges in the Shipping Instructions field. This field can be bulk edited, so that it is easy to change if postage costs change, and the buyer can see the shipping charges by clicking one tab.
    eg. https://www.hipstamp.com/listing/new-zealand-1959-health-birds-mnh/10339279
  • Many thanks Deborah.
I have followed your idea for my store, I bulk edited all my existing listings with shipping details so now it is just one click.
    many thanks.
