Worldwide 1840-1940 MNH for my Vintage Reproduction albums; slow going with the understanding that many spaces will remain as spaces due to financial constraints and/or availability. Worldwide 1840-1900 used, SON or unusual cancellations; much easie…

What Greg said, with one minor adjustment. OF COURSE, this site will have some bugs appearing occasionally. What site doesn't? There's no such thing as a bug-free, perfect platform to sell on. What's important is how the bugs are handled once they c…

All I've been able to find is: "Qualifications: Must be an APS member. Age 21 or older. Earn a living in whole or in part through selling stamps and philatelic items. Must have been engaged in the stamp business for two years. Provide Sales Tax …

Greg - From the APS website / Code of Ethics: https://stamps.org/business-finance/rules-and-regulations "I agree not knowingly to sell, trade, produce, or advertise repaired, altered, or otherwise modified philatelic items unless that condition is…
-
As I understand it from the most recent issue of the American Philatelist, anyone who is a member in good standing of the APS will be given the opportunity to display the badge on their store's webpages. The article also mentioned that this won't be…

Da, ochen' kruto.

It must have something to do with the paper and the fact that at least one image is reversed would make me think of (admittedly not a paper) Goldbeater's Skin, a membrane. In this process, if memory serves, in this process the image would be printed…

Sorry. Stamp Auction Network. https://stampauctionnetwork.com/auctions.cfm

In stamp collecting, whatever works for you is the best option. Personally, I prefer them separate as much as possible. My 1840-1940 Vintage Reproduction albums are strictly MNH (knowing I'll never get close to completion) while my Blue Internationa…

Many of the large auction houses include lots with collections in them. Look at SAN to see which ones are coming up and then peruse what's there. Obviously, it would be best to view any lots in person if feasible.

Looks like a 5c Jefferson with some serious set off from a 10c Washington.
-
What Greg said, but if she's only buying you one, go for the World Classic Specialized. This will cover both your U.S. and world stamps pre-1940.

Merry Christmas !

Just to play devil's advocate... "5) I have developed a really good repeat customer base who have learned that if they tender a fair offer, it will be seriously considered and, in many cases, accepted thus developing trust and understanding between…

I never offer the ability to make an offer and, in all honesty, don't 'get' those that do (nothing personal). As a buyer, if there's a stamp I see that I want to take a swing at, OF COURSE I'll make an offer lower than the one listed if that option …

Scott 115. If the perfin (perforated initials) are what's hanging you up, these were added to stamps by private companies to help prevent theft. Although there are lists out there of which company used what perfins, they won't be found listed in bas…

It is misleading the way they have it set up. I suspect this is Hip's version of eBay's 'sold' category where you can look up what similar items previously sold for. The only way to get any worth out of HipValue is to go to the actual page itself an…
-
That's the default message one gets if the system can't recognize the item you are listing. If it were to recognize the listing, it would instead tell you what the "HipValue" for that item averages.

Here's another album in the pile, this one only regarding the Centenary of Japanese Postage Stamps set of 1971, Scott 1057-1059. Only a few pages in size, this booklet includes printed images of Japan's 1st issues, a few pages of information in Japa…

Dan, Coincidentally I came across a few of these in a recent box lot. If the image isn't too large, shown is the '72 version. Are these the ones you were referring to? There is clear interleaving between the pages and the stamps are neatly all hinge…

Sorry I missed the zoom meeting but I ended up getting a better offer. Now before anyone gets huffy due to that statement, my son, who picked a busier specialty than did his old man (which means I don't get to see him that often; he's a vascular sur…

I had to chuckle when I saw this thread as I had just received a stuffed full banker's box I recently picked up at a Canadian auction. I swear, the freight would have cost half as much if the auction house hadn't used all the packing tape available …

No, no...no worries...I knew that. I was wondering if when you did your search for #388 if adding the country name (U.S.) to the search parameters would have gotten you the results you were looking for. I'm not familiar with Scott's digital catalogu…

Perhaps specifying the country in the search would make a difference, albeit you're in the Specialized?

Greg's correct. Specifically, a cut square from a postal card (as opposed to a government stamped envelope), the writing on the back being the give-away.
