It's not a stamp, probably a gold foil reproduction. It is an attempt by unscrupulous companies to pilfer as much as they can from unknowing folks. People hear gold and are drawn in and those companies are quite successful. In the end the buyers are left with a pile of useless stuff, worth nothing.
People paid alot of money for those for the reasons that Les stated. I see these offered at auction. They usually don't sell, or sell for a couple of dollars at the most. Dealers put these in box lots with other stuff just to get rid of them. I see these at flea markets. They don't sell there either.
