Are you sure you are looking at the right country? None of the Saar 1949 issues have watermarks, and all the stampworld.com listings for 1949 say "WM: None."
Michel labels the watermarks 1X (rising wavy lines) and 1Y (falling wavy lines):
Unless I'm missing something, stampworld appears to give watermark ID's, but nowhere do they picture the watermarks so you know what the ID number refers to. How dumb is that?
By the way, the Scott catalog only shows one wmk for Saar, the rising wavy lines. So, there is no telling which of these two is 1a and 1b on stampworld.
Okay, I was missing something. On stampworld.com, if you click on the watermark notation for a listing, a window pops up showing the watermark. BUT . . . (don't ya know), when I click on it, a window pops up . . . with NO image. (How dumb is that?) LOL
Thanks guys I use stampworld a lot as it shows usually all the stamps (great when you have a middle or higher value of Bulgaria,China etc, etc) + to buy a full range of specialised catalogues costs a fortune, mine are from the 1970's.& simplified from 2010.
