The 45th. President of the United States of America

I'm not really up to speed on things "on the other side of the pond"?

I was just wondering if the USPS have yet released a postage stamp with an image of mine fuhrer - The 45th President of the United States of America - Donald John Trump - on it?

I know some countries like Liberia have but I don't think that it's on the agenda for Mexico?????

  • Over here (USA) you have to be dead to get your own postage stamp.
  • Ted - don't put ideas into peoples heads
  • Inappropriate on Hipstamp forums.
  • Sorry Paul - British humour (humor) does not always translate well overseas.
  • There are plenty of web sites out there for political commentary. This site is for stamp collecting. People have hobbies to get away, for at least a little while, from the crap in the world. Posts like these are divisional and the reason why at Stamporama we don't allow such discussions. I hope HipStamp doesn't allow these as well.
  • I'm very sorry. Please do feel free to report this post to Hipstamp and ask them to remove it. I have already tried to delete it but I can not seem to be able to do so. I don't feel pressurised into saying this - I just don't want to offend anyone.

Tania, I thought your comment was light and playful....you just beat someone else from saying it. As for British humor, I've found it's at its best when it goes over the receiver's head. Anyway, I'm imagining the topic has pretty much run its course as we do tend to eschew politics, religion, global warming, the things that Al Gore has invented, and societal controversies ...which covers 99% of today's dialogue it seems. It's good, then, to have this little retreat on Hipstamps, which is, as we witness, jealously guarded.
  • "I just don't want to offend anyone."
    ...too late.
  • But it is a valid question. I thought a person had to be dead for 5 years before they were put on a stamp. That has proven me wrong with the soon to be release of George WH Bush. That is for the USA. I do know other countries have put our Presidents on stamps while they were still in office.
  • Presidents are traditionally honored on US stamps the year following their death.
  • About 10 years ago, Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe (he of the distinctive beard) . . .
    Donahoe Beard

. . . decided that the statute barring living persons from appearing on United States currency and securities did not apply to postage stamps, and the postal service began soliciting ideas for living people to be honored. The idea received a lot of backlash from Congress and others, and it seems it has been placed on hold.
  • Get Brexit right......then take a shot at my president
  • That's the point David - they won't listen or implement what the people want. Anyway the Queen is going to give Donald a sate visit with all the pageantry involved in June - that's a good excuse for a new stamp issue?
  • In the USA most figures are "passed" , Died> to be on a stamp.Foreign nations print thousands of stamps of sitting presidents.
