Did you see the $10,000 price tag on the used Victor Herbert Famous American on a torn envelope? “If you Vote for Pedro , all your wildest dreams will come true “
Who? Me and Bentley, George and Mouse, Rene, Pedro???? I love Pedro the poor fellow!!! Just kidding! They are everywhere. PT Barnum knew it years ago like John said. A fool and his money as has been said.....doesn't help the rest of us who are trying really hard to be ethical and honest. A black eye and a pox upon them.
Same "seller". I wonder what can be done within the terms of service of HS to do anything about it. Kind of makes the majority of us look bad to a lot of folks. I'm not perfect but at least I try.
If you look under the "Details" tab, it is listed as an "Air Mail - Parcel Post" stamp in "Mint (NH)" condition, with "Superb" centering and was issued in 1900. Shipping is $2.00 with $0.15 shipping charge for each additional item.
The seller joined HipStamp in December of 2020 and has a grand total of three listings. Two for $500 each and this one for $10,000. Zero feedback.
My guess is that this seller is not long for the HipStamp world. When nothing sells this seller will disappear.
If someone actually buys one of these items at these prices, they are getting what they deserve. You just can't protect everyone from themselves without making the world so over-regulated that living would be impossible.
I did leave question with the seller asking them to correct their listing or remove it. If nothing happens within a day, I will report this HipStamp through their abuse feature.
Thanks Richard and all . I also sent a message to HPS. Agree on the dangers of “over-regulation”, but sometimes stuff so far over the top appears. This is one of those moments. I’m sure HPS does not want to become another ETSY type lunatic site . Ultimately, though , it’s up to serious collectors to alert the platform overseers to malfeasance. My best to all !! Stay safe and healthy !!
That special one cent post card is reflecting a hope... that someone dumb enough would spend that type of money ...I bet that guy also works the phone lines selling expired car warrantees, or notifying people that their social security number will be cancelled. I wonder how many more of these are on Hipstamp?
Wayne/Peter, I usually really try to be nice here but if you guys are talking about that 398, don't enter to win it. Doesn't matter to me. I give something away every month out of my own pocket and include shipping (most often won by someone internationally so expensive to ship). I've given away over $500 in CV in the last six months, That's my money. The GB20b, GB117, GB120, Libya 27, US591 and the Australia grouping. I'm not out there scamming people like these others clearly are. I have to stop now before I say something I might regret. Have a nice day.
