Us: 8c peace corps, (#1447), sotn first day cancel, on pinback button, vf and scarce! Nice patriotic theme.What are first day buttons? From 1969 -1976 (?), some enterprising individual had buttons printed with information about upcoming issues. When the stamp was released he (or she) went to the first day city and had the stamp affixed. Then the stamp was canceled with a bullseye cancel. The button was then sealed with plastic. The stamp is under plastic. It might be possible to remove it, but i do not guarantee that. Still , there is great interest in sotn cancels now, and a dealer on that "other" website has gotten as high as $35 for these buttons.
