WASHINGTON / FRANKLIN POSTAL HISTORY: 15c Grey Franklin, perf 11; (Scott #514), tied by Brooklyn mute oval to narrow cover, Apr 5 1920 Bush Terminal origin postmarks, Registered, addr CONSTANTINOPLE, which was OCCUPIED by the British and French forces at the time, diminutive military mark, some pencil marks (both sides) and a light tropicalization line to face, backstamps incl NYC and three difficult to read Turkish-area marks (Balata?), appears to have been received May 8 (a journey of thirty-three days), extraordinary destination and use! VF for this.
