MODERN POSTAL HISTORY: 16c ERNIE PYLE; on 10c Airmail Entire, (#1398 & #UC40), tied by somewhat shaky Upland CA Jun 14 1974 four-bar postmarks, addressed Nordhorn GERMANY, properly paid rate is 26c Airmail for a half ounce, very light toning, bit of stray cancel ink on face, pencil number on reverse, no backstamps, Fine-VF. 

The 16c Pyle is a very scarce stamp on cover. Scott lists this as $10 on cover, but as $40 as a single franking (for double weight). Some would consider this a single franking, but even if not, it is a very scarce usage.
