Item Description

1823 military related stampless folded letter from Newport RI to Brigadier General Jessup, the quartermaster general, at Washingotn DC. Large green oval handstamp, "on public service" endorsement with 25 rate crossed out; couple of file folds. Letter content acknowledges receipt of materials and is signed Walter Smith; letter is datelined Fort Wolcott, which was a harbor defense for Newport.Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
