Scarce 1864 stampless cover from oregon - double circle year dated marking of Salem with "free" and frank of Benjamin Franklin Harding as US Senator, addressed to Washignton Dc. Harding (1823-1899) served as US senator 1862-1865 and also hed office as the Secretary of the territory and as 2nd speaker of the Oregon house. ASCC $250 for the marking (very few offices from Oregon have known stampless uses in the statehood period). Neat opportunity for an unusual Oregon item. Envelope with no content. Slight roughness at right and docketing at left; couple hinge marks on back from prior mounting.Your satisfaction is guaranteed. APS member since 1992 and Hip seller since 1996.
