This is a postal history cover from 1884. Postal Route & Markings From: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania To: Princeton, New Jersey Sending Postmark: Philadelphia, PA, duplex cancel dated June 3, 1884 (Tuesday) at 5 PM. Receiving Postmark: Princeton, N.J., circular date stamp on the reverse, dated June 4, 1884 (Wednesday). Transit: The cover traveled approximately 40 miles and was delivered the next day. Postage: A 2-cent stamp paid the first-class letter rate. Additional Markings: A purple handstamp on the reverse reads "REC'D AT PRINCETON P.O. UNSEALED", indicating the cover arrived at the destination post office without being sealed. Addressee and Historical Details The cover is addressed to Francis F. Kane (1866-1955), who was a student at Princeton University at the time (Class of 1886).
