1888 Norway Local Post 5 Ore Post Horn Drammen Børresen's Bypost Pair MNH On June 15, 1888, a hotel owner and stamp dealer(!), M. Børresen, started a local post office in Drammen. This first provisional issue, was in use only from June 15, 1888, to July 1, 1888. This stamp, 5 øre red on blue paper, was stamped by hand, 12 on a sheet, which explain the irregularity of distance between the stamps. Børresen's local post closed down on Dec. 31, 1888. Drammen is a city and municipality in Norway's Buskerud county. It's located at the end of a valley, on both sides of the Drammenselva river. Drammen is the largest city on the west side of the Oslofjord and is Norway's seventh largest municipality.
