Receiving Postmark: Hightstown, N.J., circular date stamp on the reverse, dated July 4, 1893 (Tuesday). Transit: The cover traveled approximately 25 miles and was delivered the next day, on Independence Day. Postage: A 2-cent stamp paid the first-class letter rate. Sender and Historical Details The cover features a printed return address for the St. James Hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey, a popular seaside resort during this period.
