This Finely Executed Art Nouveau Poster Stamp Promotes The 1898 Exhibition Of Architecture And Engineering Held In Prague (Praha), Then Part Of Austria-Hungary. Rendered In Subtle Blue And Peach Tones, The Design Depicts A Classical, Semi-Nude Male Figure In Motion, Symbolizing Creative Aspiration Or The Spirit Of Innovation. He Carries A Triangle And Holds Up A Ribboned Emblem That Appears To Incorporate Technical Or Masonic Imagery. Behind Him, A Seated Allegorical Female Figure—Possibly Representing Wisdom Or Industry—Is Framed By An Ornate Architectural Mandala With Botanical Motifs. The Upper Arch Reads “Výstava Architektury A Inženýrství,” Meaning “Exhibition Of Architecture And Engineering.” The Event Took Place From June 15 To September 15, 1898.
