Item Description
Grade: UngradedBoston MA, scarce "error" flag cancel exhibiting mismatched top and bottom portions of the postmark dial resulting in "Oston, Mas" at top and "mass" again at bottom. The top half is a die from one of the involute flags; the bottom half is a "B" dial American flag. Langford identifies as Boston ovate #3 (BD-3(6)). Reported Sep. 13-Nov. 29 1898, valued at $100 on cover in the current edition of the Flag Cancel Encyclopedia.
