1898 US Revenue Scott #- RS286 5/8 Cent Johnson & Johnson Private Proprietary Unused Light Hinge Mark 80% Original GumThis Proprietary Revenue Stamp From The United States Was Issued In The Series Of 1898 And Features A Bold Red Cross In The Center With The Words “Johnson & Johnson” Arched Above It, Signifying The Manufacturer. Printed In Vivid Red Ink, The Stamp Is Denominated At Five-Eighths Of A Cent, Indicated In All Four Corners As “5/8” And Spelled Out At The Top As “Five Eighths Cent.” The Text Along The Left And Right Borders Reads “United States Internal Revenue,” Indicating Its Function As A Tax Stamp Used On Proprietary Medicines Or Goods. Below The Central Red Cross Is The Company’s Location, “New Brunswick, N.J.,” Where Johnson & Johnson Was Founded And Remains Headquartered.
