1899 ITALIAN Passenger Ship BRINDISI Naval Cover PORT SAID EGYPT w/ French Stamp

It was sent 29 Aug 1899. It was franked with stamp "France". It was sent to Page of Orange, NJ.

This cover is in good, but not perfect condition. Please look at the scan and make your own judgement.

On January 6th, 1916, the Italian passenger ship BRINDISI, built in 1895 by Fratelli Orlando & Co. and owned by Societa Anonima di Navigazione a Vapore Puglia, on voyage to San Giovanni Di Medua, was sunk by a mine off Monte San Giovanni. Of the nearly 430 on board, 60 passengers and nearly all the crew (except three) were saved by the CITTA DI BARI. Read more at wrecksite:
