1914 France Poster Stamp 10th Universal Congress Of Esperanto. F.C.O. August 10 U.E.A. August 10 Post-Congress Excursion To The Castles Of The Loire Unused Hinge Marks 80% Original GumThis Poster Stamp Was Issued In Conjunction With The 10th Universal Congress Of Esperanto (Xa Universala Kongreso De Esperanto), Held In Paris On August 10, 1914. The Design Promotes A Post-Congress Excursion (Postkongresa Ekskurso) To The Châteaux Of The Loire Valley (Al La Kasteloj De Loire), Depicted Here With A Central Sepia Photograph Of The Château De Blois, A Key Architectural Landmark In The Region. The Surrounding Frame Is Printed In Green And White, Featuring Decorative Stars On Each Corner And Bold Typographic Panels Noting The Congress Date. The Stamp Was Produced Just Before The Outbreak Of World War I, A Time When Esperanto Advocates Sought To Unite Nations Through A Universal Language. The Printer Is Clearly Identified In The Lower Right As “Chalon Y Sacré,” A French Lithographic Firm, While The Lower Left Bears The Signature “Balandra – Royer,” Which Refers To The Design Or Artistic Attribution And Not To Gaston Delandre, As Often Mistaken.
