1914 France Poster Stamp 10th Universal Congress Of Esperanto. F.C.O. August 10 U.E.A. August 10 Post-Congress Excursion To The Castles Of The Loire Unused Hinge Mark 90% Original GumThis Poster Stamp Was Issued For The 10th Universal Congress Of Esperanto (Xa Universala Kongreso De Esperanto), Held In Paris On August 10, 1914. The Stamp Promotes A Post-Congress Excursion (Postkongresa Ekskurso) To The Châteaux Of The Loire Valley (Al La Kasteloj De Loire), Featuring A Sepia-Toned Central Illustration Of One Such Castle. The Layout Is Framed By A Decorative Maroon Pattern With Four White Stars, Echoing The Iconography Of The Esperanto Movement. The Event Is Dated Precisely On The Stamp As “10 Augusto 1914” And Is Credited To Both The U.E.A. (Universala Esperanto-Asocio) And The F.C.O. (Franciska Centra Oficejo). Though The Start Of World War I Disrupted Many International Gatherings In 1914, This Stamp Represents A Final Expression Of The Esperanto Movement’s Peaceful Internationalism Before The Conflict Escalated. The Stamp Is Printed In Maroon And Sepia Tones With White Accents, And The Bottom Right Credits The Printer As “Chalon Y Sacré.” This Confirms It Was Produced By The Firm Of Chalon & Sacré, A Known French Lithographer Active In The Early 20th Century. The Bottom Left Includes The Notation “Balandra – Royer,” A Likely Reference To The Designers Or Illustrators Rather Than The Printer, And Distinct From Gaston Delandre’s More Familiar Work. No Tears Or Major Damage Are Visible, Though There Is A Light Central Fold Or Press Line Running Vertically Through The Design. Visible Text (Rewritten In Sentence Form): Xa Universala Kongreso De Esperanto. F.C.O. 10 Augusto 1914. U.E.A. 10 Augusto 1914. Postkongresa Ekskurso Al La Kasteloj De Loire. English Translation: 10th Universal Congress Of Esperanto. F.C.O. August 10 1914. U.E.A. August 10 1914. Post-Congress Excursion To The Castles Of The Loire.
