Item Description

On july 1, 1927, boeing air transport (bat) took over the san francisco-to-chicago airmail routes from the u.S. Post office using their model 40a plane for the multiple sections between chicago and san francisco. The cover is addressed to a.C. Roessler in east orange nj who was one of the most prolific cachet makers of the day.

This cover is stamped in iowa city, flight section 18w2, addresssed and sealed flap. Please see both scans for additional detail on the markings. Stamp is the scott c7, 10 cent map.
