The cover was sent from the DEPARTMENT OF CANELONES, Uruguay, and shows DOUBLE MONTEVIDEO TRANSIT POSTMARKS DATED MAY 24, 1930, at 18:00 and 20:00 hours — clearly used as ARRIVAL AND RECEPTION CANCELS. On the reverse, an excellent and complete example of the slogan cancel:

"en 1930 europa y america disputaran supremacias en football"

This is one of the rare postal propaganda slogans used by uruguayan postal authorities instead of issuing commemorative stamps for the world cup. These slogans were applied by cancellation machines from december 1929 through mid-1930 and were overlooked by most collectors of the time.
